Man dies following collision on the A36 Codford

A 54-year-old man has died following a collision on the A36 at Codford. 

The collision occurred at approximately 4.45pm on Thursday 31 January and involved a Saab 9-3 and a Skoda Octavia.

For reasons currently unknown at this stage, the vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.

Both the male driver of the Saab and the female driver of the Skoda, were taken to Southampton Hospital with serious injuries. 

The man, who is from Frome, was pronounced deceased at hospital several hours later. His family are being supported by a specialist trained family liaison officer and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

The woman, who is 40 and from Salisbury, suffered serious lower body injuries and remains in hospital.

The A36 was closed for seven hours while officers conducted a collision investigation.

We are appealing for anyone who may have information about the collision, as well as anyone who may have dash-cam footage to please get in touch by calling 101 and quote log number 206 of January 31.
