Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

A man has been arrested on suspicion of multiple driving offences following a pursuit in Trowbridge this morning.

We attempted to stop a vehicle in Canal Road shortly before 11am today (21/02/19) as it was suspected of being driven without insurance.

The driver failed to stop for police and a pursuit was authorised.

Officers followed the car through the town, and it came to a stop in Wesley Road, colliding with a member of the public’s vehicle.

The driver then fled the scene on foot and was chased by officers, who arrested him in Stallard Street.

A 23-year-old man from Royal Wootton Bassett has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle, driving without insurance, driving while disqualified and failing to stop for police.

He is currently in custody at Melksham Police Station.
