Man assaulted in Swindon - appeal to trace key witness

Alert message sent 11/03/2019 13:16:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

We’re investigating an assault in Swindon and are keen to identify a person who could be a key witness.

At approximately 6.40pm on March 8, a 30-year-old man was walking from the town centre when he was approached by a group of five men in Emlyn Square.

The group demanded the man hand over his wallet and phone – he refused and was punched several times but, fortunately, only sustained minor injuries.

The group made off without the victim’s personal items.

PC Corrina Wiltshire said: “The group of men were threatening towards the man during the incident, which happened not far from The Glue Pot.

“We believe there was a witness to this incident and we would be really keen to speak to them as they may be able to help us identify those involved.

“Fortunately, the victim wasn’t seriously injured but he was left shaken up by what happened.”

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190023471.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
