Alert message sent 13/03/2019 10:00:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

While out on foot patrol in Swindon town centre during the early hours of this morning, (13/3) officers from Team 4 carried out a stop check on a woman following information received from the local community relating to drug dealing.

While no drugs were located, the 46-year-old woman was found in possession of a knife.

She was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place and was taken to Gablecross custody where she remains for questioning.

A/Sgt Annabel Martin said: “As a result of some proactive foot patrols by officers from Team 4, we have removed another knife from our streets. This is another example of the important role the community can play in helping us to keep our streets safe.”

This week is Operation Sceptre – the national knife crime awareness campaign, launched by the Metropolitan Police in 2015.
