London man charged with drug supply and slavery offences

Wiltshire Police has today charged a 19-year-old man from South London with drugs and slavery offences. 

Jordan Essien from Queens Road, Lewisham was arrested on 14 May 2019 in London following an investigation by Wiltshire Police's Dedicated Crime Team into crack cocaine and heroin being supplied from London into the Salisbury and Amesbury areas since June 2018. 

He was charged with the following:  

Being Concerned in Supply of class A drugs – Crack Cocaine
Being Concerned in Supply of class A drugs – Heroin
Human Trafficking under the Modern Slavery Act 2015

He appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning (16/05) where he was remanded in custody. 

Det Sgt Geoff Smith of the Dedicated Crime Team said:  “Information from the public is vital in the fight against the scourge of drug supply and modern slavery which often go together.  

"To report your concerns please call us on 101.  If you or someone else is in immediate danger call 999 straight away.  You can also report anonymously via The National Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700.   Your information will be treated with the utmost discretion."
