Alert message sent 27/06/2019 11:39:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

We are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was racially abused and assaulted.

The incident happened between 9.30am and 10.30am on Saturday 22 June in the alleyway that leads from The Chesters, West Swindon to Asda at the West Swindon Shopping Centre.

The victim, a 15-year-old local girl, was approached by a man she did not know who racially verbally assaulted her before punching her to the face causing swelling and bruising to her eye.

During the assault she fell to the floor and sustained bruising to her ribs and back. She was left very shaken up by the incident.

The suspect is described as white, aged approximately 40 to 55 years old, of large build, with no facial hair and little to no hair on his head.

He was wearing a blue polo shirt with white stripes on the sleeves, blue jeans and black shoes. It is possible that he had a tattoo on his forearm.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that could help police with their enquiries is asked to call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190060337.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

If you've been a victim of racial abuse, we'd encourage you to report it by calling 101 or visit the True Vision website at www.report-it.org.uk.
