Calne Police crime and incident update for Wc 16/09/2019

1/ on 10/09/2019 at 13:00hrs, police were called to a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A4 cross roads junction of Derry Hill and Studley.
Thankfully the drivers and passengers only sustained very minor injuries, and were later taken to hospital by family members as a precaution.

2/ Witness appeal: Theft.
Between 10/09/2019 23:00 and 11/09/2019 07:00hrs, in Compton Bassett. An unknown person has stolen a small freestanding post box by unknown means overnight. The post box was secured to a metal post and the post has also been taken. It’s believed the post box would of contained mail.

3/ on 11/09/2019 at 16:15hrs, a white Vauxhall Astra van stopped by police, the driver was found to be a disqualified driver. The driver has been reported for driving whilst disqualified.

4/ on 12/09/2019 23:32hrs, Officers sighted a grey Mercedes Benz 180 on the A4 in Cherhill to the manner the vehicle was being driven.
Upon the vehicle being stopped in Abberd Way in Calne. The driver was then requested to under-take a road-side alcohol and drug test procedure due to the officers smelling the scent of cannabis emitting from within the vehicle.
The driver passed the alcohol test, but the drug swipe test showed traces of cannabis in the drivers system.
After a short search a small amount of Cannabis was located within the vehicle. The Driver was then arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified drug being above the specified limit, and for being in possession of a class B drug.
Due the driver was also not able to produce any valid insurance details, driving documents or being able to prove the vehicle was his, and for stating that he did not hold a full UK driving license, vehicle was seized and recovered from the road.
The male has been release under police investigation, and enquiries are on-going.

5/ on 12/09/2019 16:52hrs, a blue Ford KA was stopped by police on the A4 in Curzon Street, Calne for showing no insurance. The vehicle was seized for no insurance. The vehicle was also found to have no MOT.
The driver has been issued with a FPN for driving with no MOT, and reported for the offence of driving with no insurance.

6/ on 13/09/2019 at 15:00hrs, police were called to a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A4 at Quemerford.
Due to the nature of the collision units from Chippenham and Devizes Fire, along with a South Western Ambulance service also attended the scene.
Both drivers had minor injuries, one driver was taken to hospital by South Western Ambulance Service as a precaution.

7/ The Blue Bus made a welcome return to Calne on Friday 13th September.
The facility offers a safe environment for youths aged between 10 and 17 years old to spend their Friday evenings.
PCSO Cook attended the Blue Bus this evening to welcome them back, and to chat to the youths and staff members.
The bus will be parked in the lower Sainsbury’s car park in The Pippin every Friday during school term time.

8/ on 14/09/2019 14:15hrs, a white Mini Cooper was stopped by police on the A4 near to Derry Hill, Calne for showing no insurance. The vehicle was seized for no insurance.
The driver has been reported for the offence of driving with no insurance.
