We're appealing for witnesses after a pensioner was robbed near Morrison's supermarket in Haydon Wick, Swindon.

On Thursday 26 September between 10.30am and 10.45am, the 72-year-old woman was walking though the play park close to the supermarket when a man approached her for directions.  While she was talking to him another man approached from behind and tried to snatch the purse from her handbag.

The woman tried to push the man away but he punched her on the shoulder and managed to run off with his accomplice and the purse.

The first male is described as having dark short hair and slightly tanned skin and was wearing a black puffa-style jacket and jeans.

The second male is described as wearing a grey jacket with a red stripe and a dark coloured baseball cap.

The purse was black with a white trim.

Det Sgt Alex Spargo from the Community Tasking Team in Swindon said:  "Our victim was understandably shaken and suffered a very painful, sore shoulder as a result of this assault.
"We'd  like to hear from anyone who was in this area on this date and between these times; did you see two people acting suspiciously or perhaps you saw someone running from the area?  Also, if you were driving around at this time, you may have dash cam footage that could our investigation.
"The woman is now receiving support from her family and the investigating officers."
