There are several strategies you can implement to protect against burglary:

  • Secure doors and windows – Ensure all entry points to your home are sturdy and secure. Consider installing extra measures such as deadbolts or window locks.
  • Install a security system – A home security system with some of the following features can help deter burglars from your property: alarms, camera and motion sensors.
  • Outdoor lighting – Installing motion activated lights near the entrances to your home can help deter burglars and alert you to any suspicious activity.
  • Secure valuables – ensure you keep your valuables out of sight from windows and doors and consider using a safe for important documents or expensive items.
  • Be mindful of social media – Avoid posting when you are away from your home or on holiday as this can inform burglars your house in unoccupied.
  • By implementing some or all of these tactics, you can help to reduce the risk of a burglary and secure your home.
