Chief Constable fortnightly letter to the PCC |
||
|
In her latest letter to Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson, Chief Constable Catherine Roper sets out the significant decisions facing Wiltshire Police as the Police and Crime Panel reviews the budget and proposed precept for 2026/27. ➡️Wiltshire Police is currently required to deliver a minimum of £4.6m in savings for 2026/27 as part of a wider multi‑year savings strategy, ensuring the Force continues to operate efficiently while improving the service communities deserve. ➡️Chief Roper highlights the importance of full transparency, ahead of next week’s joint Facebook Live Q&A, where she and the PCC will answer public questions and outline their financial proposals. ➡️Residents are encouraged to take part in the precept consultation survey, emphasising the PCC’s responsibility for financial consultation with communities. ➡️Despite financial pressures, the shared commitment to strengthening trust, confidence and the effectiveness of policing across Wiltshire is re-affirmed. ➡️Reassurance is given that vetting processes remain robust — with full vetting carried out for all transferees, routine dip‑sampling of decisions, and continued progress on the recommendations from the HMICFRS integrity inspection following recent national concerns about vetting standards.
