Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

We’re appealing for witnesses to an assault in Castle Street, Trowbridge.

At approximately 1.30am on Sunday 18 November, a 30-year-old man was approached by three men – one of the men assaulted the victim leaving him with serious injuries to his jaw and face.

The victim went to the Royal United Hospital and required surgery for his injuries, which included multiple fractures.

Enquiries were carried out which led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man from Trowbridge on suspicion of GBH. He has since been released under investigation while further enquiries are carried out.

A/Det Sgt Rob Blake from Melksham CID said: “This was a serious and unprovoked attack on an individual who was out enjoying his night.

“It happened near to the taxi rank on Castle Street and it’s likely that there would have been witnesses to the incident. If this is you, please get in touch.

“We’d also like to hear from any taxi drivers in the area who may have dash cam footage which could be really helpful to our investigation.”

The suspect is described as white, aged in his 20s, regular build with short hair. He was wearing a football shirt.

Anyone with information should call Melksham CID on 101 and quote crime reference number 54180109357.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
