Two males have been arrested following a day-long operation across North Swindon by the Community Policing Team.

Earlier today (23/11), plain clothes officers found a group of males acting suspiciously in St Mark's Park (aka Faringdon Park), when they were challenged by the officers two males ran off.

Shortly afterwards, one was caught by an officer in a nearby alleyway;  whilst the officer struggled with the suspect a member of public helped by calling 999 allowing colleagues to find them and assist.

The detained male was found in possession of a large amount of cannabis and cash and was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

The second male ran into a nearby address where a large amount of drugs and cash was found; he was also arrested for possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

Both are local, aged 17-years-old and 27-years-old and are currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

In another operation carried out today, plain clothes patrols were carried out by officers on bikes around Pinehurst;  one young male was given a street caution for possession of cannabis.

Also, officers seized money and phones from a suspected street dealer who will be helping us with our enquiries.

Speed checks were also carried out in in Blunsdon and Chiseldon where several vehicles were stopped and motorists spoken to about their driving and speed.

A/Sgt Ian Woodward, from Swindon North Community Police Team, said:  "This has been a good day of action for my team who has worked hard to achieve these results.
"I would like to thank the member of the public who helped one of my officers as they detained a suspect near the park.
"Overall, today's actions show that we are determined to not only tackle the issues of drugs but also the unacceptable anti-social behaviour that come as a consequence of drugs within our communities."
