Spike in burglaries

Alert message sent 15/08/2019 09:11:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

Good Morning,

Wiltshire Police would like to inform local residents in Chippenham and the surrounding areas of a recent spike in burglaries.
The burglaries do not happen at any specific time - both day and night.
The properties targeted recently have all been vacant - residents have been away or out of the property.
The majority of the recent burglaries have seen the suspect(s) enter properties via the back door - mostly patio style doors.
The properties targeted are usually positioned in isolated areas where neighbours will not hear/see anything.

Please ensure all entrances/windows are locked and valuables are secure inside the property.
If you have CCTV, please ensure it is working. If your property has an alarm system, please set this when leaving the property vacant, even if it is for a short amount of time.

If you witness any suspicious behaviour or vehicles in your area, please call 101 to report.

Kind regards,

Charlotte Windle
