Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

Officers investigating a report of a suspicious incident in Holders Road, Amesbury, have now completed their investigation and are satisfied that the incident did not take place.

Rigorous lines of enquiry have been carried out since we initially received the report that a man driving a white van had grabbed a 14-year-old boy and attempted to get him inside his vehicle on Monday evening.

Reports of this nature are taken extremely seriously and as part of our investigation, extensive CCTV enquiries were conducted, as well as house-to-house enquiries and multiple interviews.

Social media posts relating to this incident have been shared extensively with information about a vehicle which it claimed was involved – we were able to quickly eliminate this vehicle and its owner from our enquiries.

The child involved has been formally interviewed and given words of advice.

Det Con Mike Boshier said: “Reports of this nature, understandably, cause concern within our communities and I’d like to thank the public for their patience while we conducted our investigation, which has now been closed.

“We will always take reports like this seriously and I hope this incident does not deter children and young people from reporting suspicious activity when they experience it within our community.”

Our enquiries into a separate incident which occurred near Stonehenge School on Saturday evening continues.
