CCTV image released following theft in supermarket

Alert message sent 31/10/2019 17:32:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

We've released a CCTV image of a man we would like to speak in connection with the theft of a purse at a supermarket in Westbury.

At approximately 11am on Thursday 24 October, a woman was in Aldi on Warminster Road shopping with her husband; when she finished and reached the check-out she noticed her purse was missing.

The purse contained bank cards and an amount of money was subsequently taken out of the woman's bank account.

The male pictured has been identified as the same man we'd like to speak to in relation to another purse theft from a shopper in Lidl in Warminster in September. We released these details last week.

If you recognise this man or have any information in relation to this theft please contact PC Michelle Barratt on 101 quoting crime reference number 54190106108.

We urge shoppers to always ensure that your purse is at the bottom of your bag, with the bag clasp facing inwards.

It is also worth considering using a purse strap to secure your purse inside your handbag – this will make it difficult for someone to discreetly remove your purse from your bag without you noticing.

The CCTV image can be found here.
