Man arrested in connection with Trowbridge stabbing

Alert message sent 28/11/2019 10:02:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

A man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Trowbridge over the weekend.

A 24-year-old man from Trowbridge has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and is currently in custody at Melksham Police Station.

He was arrested at an address in the town last night (27/11). Due to the nature of the initial incident, armed officers were involved in the arrest, but we do not want the community to be unduly alarmed.

It is in relation to an incident in the town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning (24/11) where a 41-year-old man sustained a number of stab wounds.

The victim is making a good recovery and is expected to be discharged from hospital shortly.

Our enquiries are ongoing and we would continue to urge anyone with information which could assist the investigation to come forward.

We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who was walking or driving in the town centre between 4.15am and 4.45am on Sunday and may have either witnessed something or may have dash cam footage.

Anyone who can help should call Det Sgt Adam Fleetwood-Brown, from Central CID, on 101, quoting crime reference 54190116640. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
