Please find below weekly update;

Community Impactive Crimes – Trowbridge week 5th February - 12th February 2020.

54200014082 – 1600-0700 hours 9th-10th February - person(s) unknown have entered the Wickes Building Supplies yard, Trowbridge, and stolen a quantity of fuel from a parked lorry.

54200014220 – overnight 9th-10th February person(s) unknown have scratched the side of a grey Honda Civic parked on a private drive on Fleur De Lys Drive, Trowbridge.

54200013675 – overnight 6-7th February person(s) unknown have stolen a black and silver Carrera mountain bike whilst is was locked and secured at L F Beauty, Aintree Avenue, Trowbridge.  This is linked to 54200013338 which is the report of a further bike from the same location at the same time – this time they took a black Carrera Vengeance mountain bike.  Both bikes had been locked, but these were found to have been cut.

54200013455 – refers to another Carrera bike (no further details known at this stage) stolen from outside Lloyd’s, Fore Street, Trowbridge that occurred between 1300 hours 4th February and 1600 hours 7th February.  Again the lock had been cut and the bike removed.

Trowbridge Police would like to remind people to secure their bicycles with a good quality bike lock that cannot be cut easily – look for those locks that are ‘Gold’ rated by ‘Sold Secure’.  It is worth investing in a reasonable lock as it is all too easy to cut cheaper ones, and once bicycles are taken it is very easy to dispose of either the complete bike or parts.  Please also take a photograph, or make a note of any frame numbers (usually located underneath the bike near the bottom bracket where the pedals connect with the frame) as this can be invaluable when trying to prove ownership.

Firearms incident – The Shires, Trowbridge – 12th February 2020

Finally – members of public may have noticed an increase in police activity in the town centre this afternoon (12th February), including by armed officers, and police are aware of rumours of an incident involving a firearm circulating.  We would like to reassure the public that whilst a report of a man with a firearm was reported at around 1445 hours, this incident was quickly dealt with and a man has been arrested following a thorough search of the area by armed and unarmed officers.  The male is currently in Melksham custody having been arrested for firearms related offences, and an imitation firearm believed to have been used in the offence was found near to where the male was located.  Clearly incidents of this nature can cause alarm and I would like to thank a number members of public, as well as the CCTV operators who assisted the police in bringing this to a swift and safe conclusion.

Update 13th February 2020

The arrested male has now been charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and has been released on conditional bail.

Regards,

Sam
