Alert message sent 20/03/2020 09:39:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

We are appealing for witnesses following an assault which occurred in Salisbury city centre.

The incident is believed to have happened between 8pm and 9pm on Monday 16 March.

A 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy had been sat in McDonalds before 8pm – when they left and walked through the Market Place, they were approached by a group of young girls who assaulted the 17-year-old girl by kicking her.

The group of girls followed the couple and again assaulted the girl near Bishops Mill, kicking her several times before punching the 18-year-old boy in the face.

Although the couple suffered only minor injuries, they were left extremely shaken up and upset.

As part of our enquiries, a 16-year-old girl from Melksham has been arrested on suspicion of assault and interviewed in relation to the incident. She has since been released under investigation.

We’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident take place. If you can help, please call us on 101 and quote crime reference number 54200027306.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
