Crime - Violence Against the Person

MELKSHAM CUSTODY, (ED12) Whilst in Custody, suspect has stated to officers that he has Coronavirus and has spit at the victim who is an officer causing spit to land on his arm. Barry OSMAN, 25, from Calne was Charged with assault and remanded to court.

MILTON AVENUE, MELKSHAM, (ED11) Offender(s) have entered secured garden and stolen quad bike from within. The bike was recovered near Ruskin Avenue and potential suspects have been identified. Enquiries are ongoing.

LYSANDER ROAD, BOWERHILL, (ED12) Overnight on the 3rd April offenders have broken into a vehicle that was parked and unattended. Suspect(s) have smashed a driver's side window to gain entry to the vehicle cab. Once inside the suspect(s) have managed to locate the bonnet release and opened the bonnet. Suspect(s) have then unbolted 4 fuel injectors.

LOCKING CLOSE, BOWERHILL, (ED12) Between 1300-1500 hours on the 4th April an offender has stolen a bicycle on a driveway to a property. Described as a Black/Grey Falcon with Green lettering and a bright red air horn.

HALIFAX ROAD, MELKSHAM, (ED12) At around 6pm on the 4th April a  female victim who is partially blind, was out walking her guide dog. She alerted a person who was approaching her that she could not social distance and advised them to keep their distance, the offender then approached her and coughed near to her cheek. (see separate Press Release for witness appeal).

MELKSHAM CUSTODY, (ED12) Known suspect has spat in the  face of a detention officer following the arrest of the male for being drunk and disorderly in the Westleigh Area of Warminster. (see separate press release). Peter COOPER, 36, Of Westleigh, Warminster was charged and remanded to court. He was given 13 weeks in prison.

Crime – Possession of Weapon offences

SEMINGTON ROAD, MELKSHAM, (ED11) Officers on patrol carried out a stop check on a vehicle. The driver was found to have no insurance, failed to provide a specimen of breath, and was in possession of a knife. The car was seized under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act and the male arrested on suspicion of drink driving and possession of a bladed article. Douglas WARD, 43, from Manchester,  was charged with driving with excess alcohol and possession of a bladed article and will appear at Salisbury Mags on the 15th May.
