Cycle safety

Alert message sent 20/04/2020 09:49:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

Morning from the Neighbourhood Policing Team,

This is just a quick message about cycle safety. During these COVID-19 restrictions, it is lovely to see people getting out and about and making the most of their allowed daily exercise.

However, what has been concerning is the number of people cycling without helmets. While it is not a legal obligation to use a helmet the highway code does encourage it. Although there are fewer cars on the road wearing a properly fitted cycle helmet can be the difference between a severe and minor injury.

Please take care while out on the roads and thank you for complying with the government guidelines.

Take care and stay safe.
