Crime update appeals and warnings

Alert message sent 07/05/2020 10:14:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

Good morning all,

It's been another week with lower levels of crime than we would normally expect to deal with, no doubt due to the Covid-19 restrictions that continue to be in place.

The team this week has been concentrating on speed enforcement, due to a number of residents reporting increased speed on local roads; another side-effect of the current regulations and resultant decrease in traffic.  It's always a difficult one for us to gauge the true level of speed, as when we are present people adapt their driving and decrease their speed, but hopefully our presence showed we are out and about and will deal with those we catch out!

As I type it appears that the Covid-19 restrictions are likely to be relaxed after the weekend, which I'm sure will be welcomed by most if not all who have been impacted.  Our only hope is crime doesn't return to it's 'normal' level!

Please do enjoy the VE Day celebrations, but remember to remain socially distanced and stay safe and help protect the NHS.
