Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

Following police intelligence we carried out a search warrant yesterday (14/05) at a premises in the Cholderton area.

It was reported that alleged illegal activity was taking place involving scrap metal and stolen vehicles.

Around midday, our officers arrived alongside staff from Wiltshire Council and the Environment Agency to carry out searches and checks using the Section 8 warrant.

Currently, no criminal offences have been identified, however, the Council will be investigating further breaches of environmental health and planning laws.

Inspector Liz Coles said:  "This is ongoing work with our partners to clampdown on rural crime in our county.
"We continue to work with the local community to identify any illegal activity in this area and would encourage anyone to report anything suspicious to us via 101 or our website - wiltshire.police.uk."

Cllr Bridget Wayman, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “Officers from our Environmental Enforcement and Planning Enforcement Teams conducted a joint operation with the Environment Agency and police partners to investigate alleged scrap metal, waste and planning offences.
"This operation was intelligence led and the investigation continues.”
