Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

A Swindon man who got trapped in a window as he tried to break in to a property has been sentenced today (19/06).

Frederick Moulton, aged 53, from Spring Close, Swindon pleaded guilty to burglary and possession of a Class B drug (amphetamine) at Swindon's Magistrates Court this morning and was given an 18-month community order.

It follows his foiled attempt to burgle an empty property on Groundwell Road in the town in the early hours of yesterday (18/06).

While trying to climb in through a window his leg became jammed leaving him hanging upside down inside.   As a result, he was forced to call the fire service asking to be freed.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service called us and our officers arrived at the address with fire brigade colleagues.   On arrival it was obvious that Frederick Moulton was trying to break-in and so was arrested at the scene.

His sentence is as follows:

Community order made. The defendant must comply with certain requirements including attending rehabilitation appointments.
To pay a surcharge to victim services -  £95.00.
To pay Crown Prosecution Service costs - £85.00.
Amphetamine is to be forfeited and destroyed.
