Cyclist suffers life threatening head injury in collision near Chippenham

A cyclist suffered a life threatening head injury following a collision near Chippenham early this morning (06/07).

At approximately 12.35am, a man in his 30s was riding a Carrera pedal cycle along the A350 near to the Plough crossroads towards Chippenham when he was involved in a collision with the driver of a Renault Artic milk tanker travelling in the same direction.

The cyclist was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with a life threatening head injury. 

The driver of the milk tanker was not injured 

The road was closed this morning for six hours while the collision investigators attended the scene and the incident was cleared. 

We’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, including anyone who may have been driving in the area with a dash cam fitted to their vehicle.
