Alert message sent 30/08/2020 13:04:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

We're appealing for witnesses to an assault on a teenage boy who was stabbed at a party in Corsham.

Officers were called to a disturbance at a house party at an address on Valley Road at just after 11pm yesterday (29/08) involving a group of young people.

A 16-year-old boy had received superficial stab wounds.  He was seen by our colleagues from South Western Ambulance Service and was taken to the RUH for treatment, however his injuries are not life changing nor threatening.

Shortly afterwards, a 17-year-old local boy was arrested on suspicion of causing GBH to the victim and is currently in custody at Melksham Police Station.

Det Sgt Sam Hopkins said:  "We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this assault or may have heard or seen anything suspicious in this area yesterday evening - around this time.
"I appreciate Corsham is a close knit community and any news like this will be disturbing.  However, I want to reassure people that those involved did know each other and we have a suspect in custody.
"If you can help with our investigation, please contact us on 101 quoting crime reference number 54200086894."

Alternatively, you can report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
