Landowners and farmers urged to secure barns and outbuildings

Alert message sent 10/11/2020 14:00:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

We are urging landowners and farmers to ensure they are securing barns and outbuildings following a national increase in raves and large gatherings during lockdown.

Across the country there has been a number of incidents where large groups of people have gathered for illegal raves, contravening the Government’s current Covid-19 restrictions.

Thankfully, we have not yet had any issues here in Wiltshire, but we are urging those living in our rural communities to be vigilant.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Due to the colder weather, it is clear that those organising these illegal large gatherings are looking for indoor locations and venues.

“Therefore, we are urging those who have large buildings, such as warehouses and barns, on their land, to take extra precautions to ensure they are secure.

“Also, if you are aware of any information or suspicious activity which could suggest a large gathering is being planned, then please report this to us via 101. If an incident is already in progress, then please call us on 999.”
