Speeding drivers in your area targeted as part of Wiltshire roads policing campaign

Alert message sent 20/11/2020 16:41:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

We have been out on patrol this week in Mere to tackle speeding drivers as part of our week-long road safety campaign to reduce seriously injured and fatal road traffic collisions (RTCs) in Wiltshire.

On Wednesday, November 18, officers carried out a high visibility static speed check on Castle Street between 1.00pm and 2.00pm.

We are pleased to report that no offences were witnessed and people were observing the 40mph speed limit.

PCSO Peter Tscherniawsky said: “It is important from a public reassurance aspect to see us out carrying out these patrols.

“While we are in lockdown and the roads may be quieter, it is no excuse to be speeding and we were pleased to see people sticking to the law.

“If you have concerns of speeding in your area, we encourage you to contact your local authority to report it.”
