Arrest made following vehicle pursuit

A Salisbury man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences following a police pursuit through the city. 

On Wednesday 15 April at around 1pm, officers attempted to stop a male who was acting suspiciously and driving a black Vauxhall Corsa; however, they were forced to pursue him when he drove off. 

The pursuit began on Western Way then moved onto Castle Street, into Millstream Approach, through the Central Car Park, onto Fisherton Street, then Churchfields Industrial Estate, onto Devizes Road, into New Zealand Avenue and around Bemerton Heath before stopping near to St Michael's Road. 

A 23-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of Dangerous Driving and Failing To Stop. He has been released under investigation.

Det Con Cerys Powell said:  "We are appealing for witnesses to this incident and are asking anyone who may have dash cam footage of the pursuit or pedestrians/by-standers who may have filmed part of it on their phones to come forward."
