Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

We are looking for members of the public to join the North Swindon Independent Advisory Group (IAG).

We want people of all ages, diverse backgrounds and career/life experiences in this part of Swindon to share their views and opinions as part of our IAG.

In particular we would like to hear from people who live in the Penhill, Pinehurst, Rodbourne, Rodbourne Cheney, Moredon and Gorsehill areas.

Inspector Carly Nesbitt from the Swindon Community Policing Team said: "The group is made up of volunteers who provide a critical function for the police in providing insight into community views and tension on a range of policing matters including specific operational incidents. These may have gained local, regional or national media attention and the feedback from the group can help shape the management of any community impact and develop specific policies and plans. The area the North Swindon IAG covers is made up of numerous diverse communities and representation from all areas and ages is welcomed.”

Anton James Chair of the James Swindon North IAG said: “I’ve met some interesting people, both in the public and the police. I have realised there has been a complete change in attitude on behalf of the police towards the public, they are friendly, easy to get on with and they do actually listen to what we discuss. I feel the IAG and our opinions are valued and listened to, otherwise I wouldn’t still be in the group after all this time.”

For more information about IAGs and how to join read the IAG article on the Wiltshire Police website.
