Shed Vehicle Breaks - Great Bedwyn

Alert message sent 08/04/2022 07:51:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

Dear All,

Overnight on the 29th March 2022 there have been 5x reports of breaks to sheds/outbuildings in the Great Bedwyn area and 2x reports of breaks to vehicles. Thieves targetted the areas of Church Street, Brook Street, Farm Lane and Jockey Green. In one of the thefts, STIHL petrol power tools have been taken which are considered high value and easy for thieves to sell on.

I would urge all residents to be vigilant in reporting suspicious activity in our area and to look at ways in which we can deter thieves by installing shed alarms, good security lighting (LED preferably as less likely for thieves to disable this type of light and also cheaper to run than halogen). CCTV is great but most of the time thieves are wearing masks and this can be quite an expensive option.

I realise that with the cost of living increasing, statistically there will be a increase in theft.

Officers from the Neighbourhoods team will be patrolling the area in an attempt to deter this type of crime and we will try our very best to do so.

Kind Regards,

PCSO Jonathan Mills
