Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire and Swindon NHW

Celebrating 40 years of building stronger communities
With NHW Week coming in the same week we celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, I'm sure Her Majesty would endorse support for the principle of good neighbourliness. This week provides an opportunity for scheme co-ordinators to review their respective scheme membership list and consider how they might publicise the role of NHW in their local area. Just let me know if you require Wiltshire NHW information leaflets, all of which come with a NHW window sticker. It may also be timely to review any street signage that is visible in your area. So many of the 'old' blue helmet signs have now become dated and in some cases completely washed out. New street signs are readily available via www.wiltshirenhw.org or contact the email address below. The new design laminate overlay fits well on most of the old signs. Alternatively, why not contact your local Parish Council for support in purchasing metal signs. Many Parish Councils have been very supportive in funding signs.
Our Association will have representation at the national NHW Network conference 'Creating Cohesive and Resilient Communities' being held on the 31st May.
The principle behind any Watch initiative is to support safer communities. Here in Wiltshire, as well NHW, Wiltshire Police co-ordinate eleven 'Watch' initiatives, including Canal Watch 981, Church Watch 155, Community Speed Watch 3018, Dog Watch 983
Faith Watch 95, Farm Watch 1966,
Forecourt Watch 72, Heritage Watch 1, Horse watch 1320, Hotel Watch 131 and Pub Watch 1702. The numbers represent the number of subscribers.
Date for the diary - Wiltshire NHW Association will be holding its AGM on Saturday 8th October commencing at 10.00am. The meeting will take place at Wiltshire Police HQ with, we hope, a virtual link. More details to follow.
